Apparently "Blackest Night" ran 88 issues.

Oh good lord, do you still wonder why you aren't adding fans? The granddaddy of big crossovers, Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, was 12 issues over 12 months, & no midstream crossovers.

Secret Wars II was 9 issues, with about 4 crossovers between each two issues--33 additional, making 42 issues, most of which were just, "This character meets the Beyonder so we can do a single-issue 'encounter with the divine' story."

But now? Both Marvel & DC seem to be doing giant crossovers all the time, sometimes more than one at once, sometimes crossovers that take over the entire line for a period of time. And the page counts are getting longer & longer, as if that could stand in for creativity.

You know when comics were cool? Back when you could pick up a Creepy or a Timewarp & get multiple short stories in it.

Oh, well. The real comics are on the web, have been for a decade.

You heard me; Marvel & DC aren't even real comic-book publishers. They're somewhere alongside vanity presses & manufacturers of Zippo lighters with Bettie Page painted on.
