The Book of Lost Silly Questions

Much delayed.

1. Diana of Themyscira
2. Frank Burns (M*A*S*H)
3. Ayase Asagi (Yotsuba&!)
4. Belldandy
5. Frank Castle
6. Faith (Joe Kelly's JLA)
7. Riddick (who's apparently named Richard B. Riddick)
8. Amanda Waller
9. Tom Sawyer
10. Old Spice Man
11. Faith Lehane (Buffyverse)
12. Kitty Pryde
13. Cliff Huxtable
14. Mona Thorne (Half & Half)
15. Moroboshi Ataru (Urusei Yatsura)

I was perhaps too cute in using characters with the same name. Especially the two Faiths, & then I call Leaguer Faith the Fat Lady, which people will think is Waller. Well, I thought it funny when I made the list six months ago.

Tom Sawyer got his hands on a time machine somewhere in there & moved people around. Seems like him.

And of course there's a #16, because somebody can't count.

misterandersen:

If Riddick and Tom Sawyer got married, how would it be?

Married? Inexplicable. No, here's the thing. I see Tom, despite the fact that he's older & legendary & presumably somehow skipping forward in time to even be in these scenarios (I should have thought about timeframes when I put this together)--I see Tom totally playing the fanboy to Riddick--to Riddick's irritation. I can't even get my head around the two of them actually getting together. And what would a Riddick/Tom Sawyer marriage even mean? It's not like Riddick is going to stay at home with the little man or whatevs.

Wait, you did mean to each other, right?

.

If Frank Burns and Ataru suddenly were to find themselves stranded in the middle of a desert, how would they get out?

Oh, they're dead. No, actually, one of Ataru's alien girlfriends/hangers-on would probably pull them out shortly after both were showing signs of acute dementia due to dehydration (is that a thing?).

.

Riddick and Cliff Huxtable are caught doing something by Frank Burns. What are they caught doing together and how does Frank react?

They're putting up flyers for the campaign (see below). Frank is offended that Riddick thinks he can run for anything.

.

All the prime numbers (Frank Burns, Asagi, Frank Castle, Riddick, Faith the Slayer, Cliff Huxtable) go up against Belldandy, Faith the Justice Leaguer, Waller, Kitty Pryde and Ataru. Who wins?

I'm going to bet on the raw power of Belldandy & The Fat Lady; that side wins, yet somehow Ataru still loses.

.

Diana and Faith (JLA) and Tom Sawyer try to have a threeway relationship thing. Could it work?

I don't see how; but then, I don't really see them trying. Faith doesn't strike me as a threesome-seeking type--at least not with a teammate. I'm going to have to blame Tom for this disaster as always.

.

Sixteen [You realize I'm just going to make someone up here] and Old Spice Man are up against a homicidal Asagi. Can they take Asagi down without killing her?

I decided to make Sixteen a character I had encountered after making the original list in September. Then I discovered the Flaming C the week after getting these, so that seemed perfect: sudden and new. Then I flaked for months, so less perfect.

Anyway, The Flaming C and Old Spice Man are up against a homicidal Asagi. Can they take Asagi down without killing her?

Of course. Wait, has Cerebus Syndrome (which CTRL-F here) kicked in for Yotsuba&!? No, even then.

.

The entire list goes up against the Big Seven JLA, can they win?

In what sense do they "go up against" the JLA?

Never mind, here's the scenario: The JLA is raising funds for a hospital in Diabloverde (the island nation Waller was trying to rebuild after shutting down the Suicide Squad) & to make it a challenge, each member has to raise funds in costume. Also, each member can put together a team of fundraisers (the JLAer plus fourteen persons) which will compete for bragging rights against the other JLAers' teams and the total funds raised by the JLA themselves. So the list is Diana's team. Batman's team raises the most money, but not by Batman (instead largely by his backer, some guy named Booth Zane or something). But Diana's team almost beat the total of funds raised by Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and J'onn J'onzz.

Except Ataru lost a bunch of pledges in a storm.

[Well, that almost made sense in my head.]

.

Frank and Frank want to get married. Why do they want to and would Kitty approve?

Burns thinks he's marrying a young (well, to him) woman named Frankie Castiglione, that he met online. Castle is trying to get close to a corrupt doctor in the Diabloverde hospital project & smite him, & created a false identity to use Dr Burns's libido against him. Kitty thinks the whole thing is sick sick sick.

.

Faith the Slayer and Mona Thorne are trapped in an elevator, who drives the other one crazy first?

Such a short drive either way... I would say Mona's the one with a low stress threshold, whereas Faith's stress threshold is higher, but her acting out is so much nastier when she hits it. So Mona would start to freak out sooner, which would get on Faith's nerves, but less than whatever powers could keep Faith trapped in a mere elevator.

.

Diana and Asagi find a lost kitten. What do they do with it? What name do they give it?

I'm just going to say this is where Karen Starr's new fat kitty came from.

.

Faith the Slayer disguises herself as Mona Thorne, and Frank Burns falls in love with her. Does Faith reveal the truth or does she go along with the charade, and does she reciprocate Frank's feelings?

What. No really, what? You know, I'm not even going to try to parse how that happened. No and no. And no.

.

Faith (JLA) murders Frank Castle, and the Wall and Tom Sawyer have to investigate. Do they figure it out? If so, what do they do about it?

:SPROING!: OK, there went my brain out my skull. Bounce, roll on the floor. See what you did?

OK, it's the Wall & Tom Sawyer. They can figure out practically any murder case, if you can get them to pay sufficient attention to it. What they do about it? Probably stick Faith in Waller's charge for a while.

.

Old Spice Man and The Flaming C time travel back to the 1800s. What historical figures do they meet, and how do they fuck up the timeline (or do they make it better)?

Old Spice Man wants to know:
Why do you keep pairing me up with this man who smells like a lady? Never mind, I have a time machine, and I have gone to the past to pursue a memetic time vandal; who hoped to change history so that the Shulton Company's product introduced in 1938 would be called New Spice, & would due to this different name have fallen out of production by the 1960's. I had to take matters into my own muscular hands in order to remain in existence. This man who smells like a lady came along to assist and perhaps make things slightly warm. Not the Old Spice Man, other things.

The time machine landed on an obscure island in the Arctic Ocean, where a previously undiscovered population of great auks bred. When we left the island to find civilization, we unfortunately indicated the island's existence to sailors. So the great auk (or
arctic penguin) was not actually extinct, but now it is. You have my deep apologies. Future time travels should be able to correct that, once I get my time machine back from Tom Sawyer, who took it to the 27th Century and brought back his husband Riddick, for whom you should vote.

The sailors whom we encountered on our journey happily embraced the fundamental scents of Old Spice, incorporating then into 19th Century sailing culture; thus ensuring that when the trademark I embody was created, it was inevitable that it would be named "Old Spice," not "New Spice." The practice of wearing socks with garters over fishnets did not, on the other hand, last quite so long. So, good for me, bad for flightless birds. This time.

.

If Faith (JLA) and Cliff Huxtable went on a picnic, what would they bring with them?

Cliff's family, most likely. Really, I can see Dr. Huxtable taking the kids on a picnic with a Justice Leaguer, it's in character.

.

The Flaming C, Amanda Waller, Belldandy, and Frank Burns are trapped on an island. Will they survive and get along(if so, how?) or do things end up more Lord of the Flies?

I'm pretty sure Bell can whip up a tea service anywhere. Frank spends a lot of time by himself sort of twitching and ranting, but he keeps coming back for Bell's cooking. The peace is kept. Eventually the Flaming C manages to break the giant magical cake cover placed there by Felix Faust to contain him, & they get to leave.

odditycollector:

Frank Burns, Belldandy, Faith of the JLA, Amanda Waller, and Tom Sawyer all want to play on the swings, but there are only 3 swings at the playground! How do they resolve this?

Doing "Find and Replace" told me there were Asagi swings at the playground. Are these swings shaped like Asagi? How does that work? Frank finds them disturbing, and decides he doesn't want to swing anyway. Belldandy, who even-temperedly regards the world with wonder & tolerance, takes it in stride & cheerfully sits on a swing. Faith has seen worse. Amanda used to be Poison Ivy's wrangler, she is not bothered by your Japanese bishoujo playground equipment. Tom Sawyer, on the other hand, must be the target audience, because he thinks it's nifty.

Oh, wait, not the question. Normal swings. Frank churlishly takes one of the swings & bogards it until one of the others pushes him off (which Faith would totally do). Perhaps Bell or Faith could synthesize extra swings with their awesome powers, but I'm not sure about that. I think Tom would be happy to play the gentleman, & stand & push the ladies--two pretty ones & an old matron, yeah, he'd go for that. So Faith pushes Frank off, the ladies get the swings, & Frank has to go along with chivalry in the end.

.

Diana believes that Mona and Ataru are sleeping together. How did Diana come to that conclusion, and who does Diana gossip to?

I don't see Diana as a gossip. She might tell Shinobu by mistake, without meaning to gossip. Violence could ensue.

How she came to that conclusion? :think think think think: Clearly I am ill-suited to write wacky sitcom hijinks, because this is right up Mona's & Ataru's respective alleys, & I started to just say they actually were sleeping together.

.

Riddick is running for political office! Faith Lehane is the campaign manager, Old Spice Man is Riddick's biggest supporter, and Asagi is Riddicks's biggest rival in the race. What office are they fighting for, who wins, and what kinda commentary does Belldandy put on her blog?

Worst campaign ever?

Junior Minister of Time Travel Accident Management, for the thousand-year span running from 1873-2873.

More time-travelers vote for Riddick based on a mix of Old Spice's endorsements & sheer name recognition, but Faith's campaign team attempts to cheat & win by fraud, which somehow backfires, & Asagi is installed.

I can't see Belldandy saying anything snarky. Actually the idea of a Belldandy blog is strange to me. But it would almost have to be one of those things where she congratulates the candidates without taking sides nor appearing to care who won.

"Yay you!"

.

Frank Burns and Clif Huxtable are playing beach volleyball against Kitty Pryde and Wonder Woman. The Punisher is the ref. How does that work out?

The old guys lose graciously.
