I read a quote awhile ago, I wish I could remember who said it, essentially saying "think of what story you most want to see as a fan, then never write it." That seemed very true to me, too often I see writers serving themselves instead of the characters, and lately there doesn't seem to be any editors to tell them "no".

Interesting. This correlates with my sense that were I to actually become a professional writer, I should not be allowed to write X-Men.
