Oh, yes, the infamous purple healing ray. It was a sort of ray put out by what looked like a laser apparatus, and it magically healed people of pretty much everything. When I was younger I really was annoyed by its inclusion in the Wonder Woman comics. (Oddly, I'm not sure if I was ever bothered as much by Lucy's cordial.)
Now I'm older I appreciate why Dr. Marston added a panacea-gadget to the Wonder Woman mythos. It allows characters to come back and be used again even after pretty dire stuff. Also why Wondy's antagonists in that era typically used to tie her up instead of trying to kill her. It was released periodically, one might need the characters in a later installment! (Something other comic-book writers may not see quite the same way.)
Hwin's line: Isn't it obvious? I mean, yes, I should have quoted Hwin's memorable and insensible line that I remembered: "I'd sooner be eaten by you than fed by anyone else." One of the most completely weird lines in the Chronicles, and very much the kind of bizarre, memorable line Jack liked for those books.
